What is involved in Design Consultation for accessibility?

Access for Life has extensive knowledge and tertiary qualifications in building design that complements the access consultant qualifications. This means that our clients are working with highly skilled professional designers with a strong level of understanding of the building and construction industry and the the Building Code of Australia (BCA) regulations. It is important to engage an accessibility consultant as early in the process as possible to ensure all accessibility aspects can be discussed with your design and building team.

What types of Design Consultation can we offer?

Commercial Projects

We can provide design consultation for small commercial projects such as shops, restaurants and everything in between.  large commercial projects such as large shopping centre's, industrial buildings such as warehouses and large office buildings  are just a few examples of large commercial buildings we can undertake design consultation for.  Any alterations and additions could trigger the access to premises code. Any new additions will need to comply with the BCA regulations.

Residential Design

We can provide design consultation for residential homes and units. We understand that some clients may need tailored solutions for accessibility or maybe not require the specific needs associated with the Livable Housing Australia (LHA) guidelines so we can tailor specific to your requirements.  We can also provide consultation for large residential buildings such as multi unit residential buildings such as high-rises and nursing homes.

Landscape Design

We can also provide guidance when it comes to landscape design to ensure paths and access surrounding the dwelling is designed to comply with accessibility standards and best practice.
